APG "Toys for Tots" GTG (Local)

OK, we're going to try something different this year for TFT. I know that December is a tough time of year for some people to take the better part of a Sunday away from town so we're going to do (2) TFT GTGs.

The first will be on Saturday, November 21st from 10am-2pm. Specific location will be announced as soon as we finalize it, but our first choice is the Jillys parking lot next to Strictly Diesel, with the parking lot at Strictly Diesel being the second choice. The second TFT GTG will be the actual Cruise to Wickenburg and will be covered in another thread.

We do have one decision to make. There is currently about $100 left over from the last round of donations for APG business cards (I think that's what it's from). Please answer the poll about whether you think we should use it to buy toys for the drive or supply some of the food for this GTG. The voting is annonymous, but I will say that I'd prefer to use the money for toys and have this GTG be a BYO for the food.

Since we're on the topic of food...we are currently planning on having Dan's 5th Wheel there, along with his large grill. If anyone else has a large grill they'd like to bring, please feel free to offer. I don't think we need more than 2 at the most. If we use the club money to buy toys, this will be BYO "Meat" for the grill (burgers, dogs, etc...don't forget buns if needed). Lets not get crazy with this, but if anyone wants to volunteer to bring some "Costco" size chips, cold salad, dip or plates, etc...toss it out there.

Nate will supply bottled water and I will supply a variety of soda.

I've got 2 6' folding tables I'll be bringing. If anyone has extra tables, that would be great. I'm going to suggest that everyone bring their own chairs.

All in all, this is pretty informal. Just come out, hang out and have fun. There is ONLY ONE STIPULATION...just like the cruise, we are going to require ONE NEW/UNWRAPPED TOY to participate. All of the toys gathered here will be held until we make the "Cruise" to Wickenburg in December. Anyone who would like to go with us to Wickenburg is welcome, I'll be starting another thread about that shortly.

dang pretty unanimous for buying toys. haha.

figures that this would of all days land on the GCPRA rodeo year end finals(aka gilbert days rodeo). I was really looking forward to doing something in valley for TFTs but this is the ONE event that would make me skip out on this.... looks like ill have to go to the wickenburg TFT. hopefully that will work better with the schedule....

oh and ya, i voted

OK, Nate and I have been talking about trying to get more people involved to get our toy donation up. We are thinking about opening the local event up to our other "non-APG" customers. In order to not "step on" the APG portion of this event but still hopefully improve the toy donation we make, this is what we came up with.

We would advertise the event as an APG/Strictly/ITP sponsored "Toys for Tots" toy drive from 8am to Noon on that day. We would have APG banners up, our trucks there at least (and any of yours that want to come early) and a big box for people to make toy donations.

Then, we would do the "APG Only" portion from Noon to 2pm. This is when we'd bust out the grilles and just hang out and BS and eat and such. This way we're not trying to provide food for an unknown attendence and not worried about people looking at your food with hungry eyes. Of course you all would be welcome to show up as early as you want and hang out and BS with whatever diesel guys show up. We are just wanting to separate this from the APG Only "hang out and BBQ" part a bit.

What are your thoughts?
