Hello All! I have been experiencing some issues with my completely stock 2005 6.0L automatic 2wd work truck and hope someone could help out. On Monday, while my truck was in park and idling, I heard a slight change in how she sounded(the tone changed) and it hasn't been the same since. I checked the gauges(temps and all levels were all ok), no CEL, all seemed fine so I shut it down. I pulled the fuel filters(both of them) and they were a lil dirty, but not as bad as I expected. New filters and o-rings installed... she fired right up. After letting it idle for 15-20 minutes(to purge the air out of the fuel system), I took it for a drive. It is missing and surges pretty bad when your cruising(from 40mph all the way to 75+mph). Under full throttle, it smooths out slightly but has nowhere near the power it used to have. When your coming to a complete stop, it also surges some(chugs) feels like warped rotors without the pulsing pedal. Also, no unusual smoke at all from the exhaust.
The truck starts right up, hot or cold.... I always let her warm up properly too. Being that there is no CEL, does that mean there is no real way to see whats really going on with it? I have driven it all this week, added fresh fuel, Stanadyn additive too and it runs just the same... crappy. It has 88K on it and am really trying to determine whether or not the repair is under the 100K warranty. The company I work for owes me a bit of money and I really don't want to commit this truck to the dealership without knowing the repair bill is affordable.
If someone is able to scan it or at least give me some ideas as what to check for, I would be extremely grateful. The truck is driveable so I can go to you also. I do live on the North/West part of town.
Thanks in advance,
Tim
