    Diesels In The Pines 08

Jody has come to me with a great Idea for a summer meet.

Would you all be interested in a run up to Forrest Lakes located up Highway 260 just on top of the Rim?

Dates would be Saturday June 28 and 29th I myself would likely arrive on the 27th late and stay in Christopher Creek.

I Know the area very well, but will let Jody fill in the details of the location and ideas he has planned.

Please post your thoughts. If the idea looks positive we will post a poll to get a count. Then hopefully make this official. I marked this as DITP 08 as this could venture into a yearly summer GTG for us.

I'm really good at 'Guitar Hero,' and I thought maybe I should get a guitar. Then I thought, like, I'm really good at 'Grand Theft Auto.' Maybe I should start beating up hookers

There is a huge park in FL or Heber, can't remember but would make for a great spot.

I pass through there every other weekend so will definately stop by.

I will be staying up there from June 28th until July 6th. I will be setting up my 5th wheel on Forest road 300. That is about 1/2 mile east of Forest Lakes off of Hwy 260.

We stay only about 1 mile in, since most of the area was ravaged by the fire.

I was thinking either make a run to Showlow. Then you can go back Via the Salt River Canyon or back track. (always nice to see how the truck smokes at 7,000 ft)
Or if interested, we can go the back way along Forest Road 300 which goes all the way to Showlow. I have taken this several times and it is amazing to see how the Rodeo/Chedisky fire went through the area. (you don't see all of it from 260)

For those interested, I of course will be in my 5th wheel and there is plenty of camping in the area. Hopfully there will be no fire restrictions at that time.

Heck, we can even call it all good and hang in the tree's for that matter. Bring your toy's there are miles of forest road to travel.
Plus my choice of camping area keeps me in cell range. (Have to be cause of the buisness)

I know the park you are talking about. It is technically in Overgaurd. There is a Ranger station right in front of it.
I even know how to get to that park off of Fr 300.

We will likely stay at our favorite Cabin In Christopher Creek. They are pet friendly and the owners of the park have Chihuahuas it's just a few miles from where you will be

Well, I have a tent set a side for Newman. It's no cabine, but is 3 rooms and probably has as much sqftage as some of the hotel rooms.

I have no problems with my rig. It is Forest service land, so you park where you want.

As for hook up's. Well, there are none. I will have 2 55 Gallon barrels for water if any one needs it, and re filling my rig, since I will be there a week.
There is a dump about 5 miles from there too if needed.

If any tenters, need power I have an on board generator(as do most RV's) so I can always help you there.
